Virginia Native and now Philadelphia resident, Bear-One (of The Control Freaks with partner Kleph Dollaz) is among the A-list of up-and-coming producers in the game. Bear's early love for different styles of music continues to keep him in a league of his own. Being a connoisseur of everything from boom bap Hip-Hop, Alternative, 80's Dance, to Soul, Reggae and Jazz has made Bear eager to challenge the ear of listeners. Bear-One started his musical career in middle school DJing, making beats and producing for local Hip-Hop kids. "My parents would get me a different drum-machine every Christmas if my grades were good. My first piece was the Korg DDM-110, then the Roland TR-626 and a Boss sampler…after that it was on." Bear continued to sharpen his early DJ/Production skills by listening to everything from Mantronix, Public Enemy, The Cure, John Coltrane, Gang Starr, to Fleetwood Mac, New Order, and Black Uhuru. After the High School era of pause tapes and early beat sessions, Bear-One continued to build with VA MC's.  He would later join forces with Kleph Dollaz (formerly of the Ill Biskits, signed to Atlantic Records). He and Kleph formed a one MC/one DJ group called A Chosen Few. They went on to tour with Redman, Organized Confusion, Smif-N-Wesson, Hieroglyphics Crew, the late great Big Pun, and more. Shortly afterwards, Bear relocated from VA to nearby Washington, DC where he attended Omega Recording School and received a degree in Audio Engineering. After getting his formal audio training, Bear relocated again to Philadelphia where he worked as an Artist Development Rep for The Island Def Jam Music Group in the Mid-Atlantic/North East. He continues to reside in Philadelphia, where he is the current co-owner of Phenomenal Studios.  Though no longer a Hip-Hop group, Bear and Kleph have renamed themselves as the production team, THE CONTROL FREAKS! To date the Control Freaks have produced for The Diplomats Jim Jones and Max B, Queensbridge own Havoc of Mobb Deep, Infamous Mobb, Big Noyd, Cormega and Littles, Money Making Jam Boys (Black Thought, Dice Raw, Truck North, STS & P.O.R.N), Talib Kweli, Bootcamp Click's Black Moon, Sean Price and Tek from Smif-N-Wessun, State Property's Freeway, Peedi Crakk, Young Chris and Sparks, Papose, Brand Nubian's Sadat X, Mims, Lil' Fame of M.O.P, Planet Asia & Rasco, The Bad Seed, Blahzay Blahzay, APE GANG, Indy 5 and Philly's Freestyle terror Reef The Lost Cause, and many more!
